Hi Norman!

I like your idea of introducing the two different kinds of microscopes. With the pictures that you have provided, the students will see that there are differences right off the the bat. Some students think that a microscope will just show something magnified to some degree not knowing that magnification can be even greater. With further elaboration, children can discover more hands-on activity with the microscope.

Hellow Norman!
I was interested in the use of flickr in your microscope lesson. Since I believe that children learn in different ways, the use of flickr can be an alternative that may meet some children's learning needs. For instance, I have some students who are struggling writers with the traditional paper and pencil but with the assistance of a keyboard and a monitor, they much more creative in their writing. Just like the adaptive ant in your comparison( I really liked the analogy), I try to be flexible in my teaching in order to meet most of my students' needs in order to see their success.
